Chicago Fed: Economic Activity Moderated in December

Jan 22, 2013 Doug Short  According to the Chicago Fed's National Activity Index, December economic activity decreased from the previous month, now at +0.02, down from a revised +0.27. However, this indicator has been negative (meaning below-trend growth) for seven of the past ten months, and the all-important 3-month moving average has been negative for all ten of those months and 23 of the last 29 months.
