December 2012 Conference Board Consumer Confidence Drops over the Fiscal Cliff

The December 2012 Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index declined for the second month in a row. The market expected this index to come in at 68.0 to 70.0 (versus the 65.1).
This index remains in territory associated with past recessions - however, it remains at the highest value seen since the end of the recession. Note that this data is considered preliminary, and the cutoff for these results was 13 November 2012.
