ECRI Weekly Update: Beating the Recession Drum

Nov 30, 2012 Doug Short The Weekly Leading Index (WLI) of the Economic Cycle Research Institute (ECRI) rose slightly in the latest public data. It is now at 126.3, up from 125.4 in the previous week. The WLI annualized growth indicator (WLIg) declined to 3.4, down from last week's 3.6. But ECRI's indicators appear to have diminished in significance. Yesterday ECRI's Lakshman Achuthan made the rounds on TV interviews reaffirming his company's recession call and now pinpointing July the business cycle peak.
