Will your doctor use ‘accountable care?’ These days, health-care experts are buzzing about the ACO, or “accountable care organization,” a business model that’s becoming a major element of health-care reform. ACOs encourage doctors and hospitals to communicate and cooperate more thoroughly, and they allow medical systems to earn more money if they get better health results. The Affordable Care Act encourages Medicare to rely more on ACOs, but how far will the idea spread?
