Theater decimates Facebook critics over ladies-only Wonder Woman screening

May 25 8:16pm The Next Web » Facebook
Texas-based theater chain Alamo Drafthouse announced yesterday that it was having a special screening of Wonder Woman where everyone present would be a woman, even the staff. No boys allowed, in other words. Some people always want what they can’t have, so this was not met with unanimous approval. Despite the fact that Wonder Woman is expected to be a global blockbuster and will probably be playing in every theater, every hour until weeks after its release — some people want this one screening for one night in one theater to be open to everyone. Low Ad ROI? Heres Why Your Problem is at the Top, Not the Bottom, of the Funnel

May 25 10:46am AdEspresso
Conversions are low. ROI abysmal. Facebook ads “aren’t working.” And that’s because Facebook ads “don’t work.” Nothing’s converting. It’s tempting to think that conversions are the problem. People already have ‘ad fatigue’ or the image isn’t good enough. Those things might be true. But more often than not, the problem is your Reach (not Frequency). You aren’t Read more...

How to Blend Social Media Contests with Offline Events

May 25 8:05am Maximize Social Business
My first business professor in college said, “Marketing is marketing is marketing”. That has always stuck with me because I knew what the underlying message was. No matter what the vehicle: print, television, social media, etc., how you connect and engage with prospects and customers is always the same. Social media is the new flashy car on the road. It appears many marketers have forgotten the vehicle isn’t the message. It’s called SOCIAL media for a reason. It’s meant to be a forum for people to connect. Use it properly and you will create loyal customers, and more than likely, brand advocates. The Dovetail A great marketing campaign dovetails different avenues to create one cohesive program. This is especially important when running offline events as attendees now rely on social media to easily connect to other attendees, vendors, speakers or sponsors. Dovetailing online and offline events aren’t just for B2B trade shows, conferences, conventions, and golf tournaments. Facebook redesigns Trending topics to make news easier to find

May 24 3:47pm The Next Web » Facebook
Facebook is introducing a couple of changes today that make it easier to spot trending topics and the coverage around them. First up, there’s a bit of a visual redesign. Previously, clicking on a trending topic would highlight a story from one publication, and you’d have to scroll down past a live video section to view related stories. Facebook is replacing that system with a simple carousel, which does a better job of showing you different coverage options. To be clear, the change doesn’t affect how stories are sourced, according to Facebook. It’s still the same algorithm picking out some of the most… This story continues at The Next WebOr just read more coverage about: Facebook...

3 Amazingly Simple Hacks To Bridge A Customer Experience Gap Thats Costing You Money

May 23 8:05am Maximize Social Business
There is a growing body of evidence that suggests we make most, if not all, purchasing decisions based on emotions. Even those who claim Spock-like intellects rely on some level of emotion. I believe emotion plays a significant part of a differentiating customer experience. An employee can meet the technical requirements of delivering their product or service and still leave you feeling underwhelmed. As I am writing this I’m thinking of the technician who came to our house to routinely service our heat pump for the summer season. He cleaned out the lines, did all the proper checking that was required in the contract. However, he set the bottle of material on our carpet. It left a stain that I had to remove. Service check. Experience fail. It can be just that simple. There are stores I frequently visit because of the experience like Trader Joe’s. How to Use Pictograms Effectively

May 22 8:05am Maximize Social Business
The fundamental purpose of an infographic is to simplify complex information and help make difficult concepts easier to understand. We often use infographics to summarize data in order to send a message to our audiences. One of the best ways of visually representing this data is through the use of pictograms. A pictogram is a visual representation of data. It’s not the same as your typical bar chart or pie chart. Instead, you use icons and illustrations to highlight the relevant statistics that you’re trying to get across. They are typically a simplified representation of an idea, theme or concept, with a flat design. Pictograms are great for content creators because they give your audience a snapshot of quantity and volume in a visually impactful way. But the most common use-case of pictograms is to represent a ratio. In this article, I’m going to cover some best practices for how you can effectively use pictograms in your content and in your infographics to help your audience better understand your data and statistics.
