"Mr. Knife, Miss Fork" is a series of concepts conceived for “everyday play.” It’s a mystery sometimes, the things that hide out in our creative unconscious just waiting for a chance to resurface in some new and unexpected way. Years ago, L.A. native Laurel Consuelo Broughton was going through what she describes as a “surrealist writer phase”--a rite of passage, perhaps, for comparative literature majors--when Babylon, an 85-year-old book by French author Rene Crevel, truly captured her imagination.
