They go by many names: hybrid funds, target-date funds, asset allocation funds, balanced funds and absolute return funds. Whatever you call them, hybrid funds have one common theme — they hold a mix of stocks and bonds. Coming in countless varieties, they can serve as stand-alone investments or be integrated into a larger portfolio.
