Mid-Morning Market Update: Markets Mostly Flat; Washington Companies Proposes To Acquire Dominion Diamond

Following the market opening Monday, the Dow traded up 0.03 percent to 20,919.92 while the NASDAQ declined 0.02 percent to 5,900.02. The S&P also fell, dropping 0.12 percent to 2,375.28. Leading and Lagging Sectors Monday morning, the telecommunications services sector proved to be a source of strength for the market. Leading the sector was strength from China Mobile Ltd. (ADR) (NYSE: CHL) and Internet Gold Golden Lines Ltd (NASDAQ: IGLD). In trading on Monday, energy shares fell 0.46 percent. Meanwhile, top losers in the sector included PrimeEnergy Corporation (NASDAQ: PNRG), down 9 percent, and Scorpio Tankers Inc. (NYSE: STNG), down 5 percent. Top Headline The Washington Companies proposed to acquire Dominion Diamond Corp (NYSE: DDC) for US$13.50 per share in cash.
