Russell Athletic Bowl Rutgers Scarlet Knights 9-3 vs Virginia Tech Hokies 6-6 Rutgers Scarlet Knights Overall record: 9 – 3 Conference record: 5 – 2 Finished 3rd in the Big East behind Louisville and Cincinnati. Rutgers lost only 3 games and still finished 3rd in the Big East. The top two teams, Louisville and Cincinnati both won 10 games. The Scarlet Knights lost to Louisville 20 – 17 in the last game of the regular season. Virginia Tech Hokies Overall record: 6 – 6 Conference record: 4 – 4 Finished 4th in the Coastal division of the ACC Virginia Tech has the 7th best record in the conference. The Hokies needed overtime wins against Georgia Tech and Boston College to save their season. They lost to Pitt, Cincy, UNC, Clemson, Miami, and Florida State.
