S&P 500 Snapshot: Flat Finish to a Strange Day

Jan 24, 2013 Doug Short  It was a strange day. The S&P 500 set its seventh consecutive interim high, but on the smallest possible gain -- up one basis point from yesterday's close. The index hit its intraday low in the first minute of trading, down 0.36% (according to Stockcharts.com's data). But at the end of the first five minutes the index was in the green and rose to its intraday high, up an even half percent, by late morning. That intraday high was above the 1,500 level at 1502.27. But the index then slowly rolled over through the lunch hour and reentered the shallow red in the early afternoon....More...
