Jan 25, 2013 Doug Short Pre-market earnings drove up the futures and the S&P 500 surged from the opening gate, breaking above 1500 and challenging the interim intraday high set yesterday, all within the first 30 minutes of trading. That 1500 level was a persistent benchmark for the index which played tag with the level throughout the day. The 1PM bounce off that level seemed to falter in the later afternoon, but the index bounced again in the final fifteen minutes to close with a gain of 0.54%, about 3 points above the 1500 level and the 8th consecutive interim high.
