Weekly Unemployment Claims at 410K: The Sandy Effect Continues

Nov 21, 2012 Doug Short The Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report was released this morning for last week. The 410,000 new claims number was a 41,000 decrease from a 12,000 upward adjustment of the previous week as the Sandy Effect continues to skew the data. The less volatile and closely watched four-week moving average, which is usually a better indicator of the recent trend, rose to 396,250.
