Zillow buys HotPads for $16 million

Zillow Inc. (NASDAQ: Z) has agreed to buy San Francisco-based HotPads Inc., the operator of a map-focused property rental and real estate search website, for $16 million in cash. Founded in 2005, HotPads has 19 employees. It was started in Washington, D.C., and relocated to San Francisco after raising a $2.3 million Series A round led by Meakem Becker Venture Capital in 2007.
